BOYS BASKETBALL
Varsity (2-3): Week two lost to Woodinville, 53-70, but rival Skyline, 81-64.
At Woodinville: Things started out quickly for Issaquah – Jonathan Lo launched a fast-paced game with 11 points to Woodinville’s 2 points before things settled into an evenly-matched game. Woodinville pecked away at the Issy lead until the second half when the Eagles went cold. Only 2 field goals fell in the 3rdquarter, giving Woodinville an edge in the game. POINTS: Jonathan Lo: 23 (w/ 5 three-pointers), Charlie Dietiker:16, Timmy Crandall: 8. Loss 53-70
At Skyline: The Eagles came out strong, then continued to dominate their cross-town rivals in this 17 point win. Issaquah showed a typical perimeter game, but incorporated a strong inside game, led by Charlie Dietiker and Asa Taylor. Skyline was in foul trouble, early in the first half because of this accumulating over 10 fouls. 2ndHalf ~ the Eagles were hot with 46 pt. spread out among six different players, each of whom had 5+ pts. Skyline simply couldn’t catch a very hot Issaquah team. POINTS: Asa Taylor: 20 (inside & outside), Timmy Crandall showed his prowess in driving the lane, and dishing the ball to whomever popped open – multiple assists along with 13 pts (several from three-point range), Charlie Dietiker: 10 pts, Jameson Pastor: 6 pts. Win 81-64.
JV (2-3): Week two Win on Woodinville, 58-47, Loss to rival Skyline, 59-62 (lost in overtime).
At Woodinville. Issy dominated play against Woodinville, led by the hot hand of Tommy Resner (8 points in Q1). The boys kept the ball into the paint found open shots along the perimeter, while Woodinville tried both man-to-man and zone defense. An early lead kept Woodinville playing catch-up. Issaquah scored 7 three-pointers which spread out the opponent defense. POINTS: Tommy Reisner (playing 3 quarters JV and 1 quarter Varsity): 13, Mason Muir: 11, Adam Liske: 10 (mostly inside), Rowan (playing 3 quarters): 9. Win 58-47
At Skyline: Issy led the entire game until mid-way through the 4Q when the game shifted in Skyline’s favor. Issaquah lost by 3, with a tremendous effort to take it into overtime that ended in a turnover. Issy led by 7 at the end of 3Q. Momentum by Skyline caught Issy by surprise, as they tightened up, offensively, and gave up multiple fouls in the 4Q. Even scoring throughout the team is always welcome, but wasn’t quite enough to keep Skyline quiet. POINTS: Rowan Dillon: 11, Evan Roorda: 10, Adam Liske: 10, highly-energized Tommy Reisner: 7, Zach Eastern provided perimeter threat: 6. Loss 59-62
Next Up: Friday (12/14) @ Eastlake HS (JV at 5:00pm, Varsity at 8:00pm)
