WinterFest – from our ASB
At IHS the WinterFest season is fast approaching. In an effort to keep up school spirit in these cold and rainy months, the ASB class hosts Winter Wishes. During the weeks of 12/3–12/7 and 12/10–12/14 ASB students will be accepting Winter Wishes from students during Nest and Lunch times. Starting 12/10 those Winter Wishes will be hung on the WinterFest Tree in the main office. Once the wishes are on the tree, staff and students alike can stop by the office and find a wish they are interested in and grant it for a fellow IHS staff or student. The WinterFest Tree will be in the main office from 12/10 to 12/19, if any community members wish to participate in the granting of wishes they are more than welcome to do so. Granted wishes can be turned into the main office prior to 12/19. Thank you to all in advance for helping to keep the school in high spirits as we wind down the 2018 year.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Varsity (1-2): Tuesday’s home opener against Liberty came down to the wire when one fan said, “They sold me a whole seat, but I only need the edge of the seat.” Jonathan Lo hit a long-range, 3-pointer. Jonathan Lo: 17 pts, Timmy Crandall: 14 pts, Charlie Dietiker: 13 pts. Win 78-77
Friday, at Mercer Island, a close game through the first half slipped away as the Islanders’ defensive press led to turnovers and contested shots that went their way. Fans could see that Issaquah offense leverages the terrific outside shooting of Timmy Crandall, Saxon Cullimore, Danny Howe and Jonathan Lo (among others!). Highlight: Charlie Dietiker’s 100% free-throw shooting (8 FT’s)on the night! Loss 57-70
Saturday the Wagle went to Mount Rainier where the team took a loss against a fast and physical 3A squad. Loss 53-63
IN THE NEWS: Issaquah displays resiliency in loss to Mercer Island
JV (1-2): Tuesday’s home opener against Liberty began as a route, as Issaquah maintained a 6-10 point lead through the first 3 quarters. Liberty focused on slowing down the Eagle offense in the 4th, forcing several turnovers, and tightened the lead to 3. A patient press break by Issaquah maintained the lead for a 3 point victory. Adam Liske: 8 pts, 6Andrew Matson: 6 pts, Evan Roorda: 6 pts, Rowan Dillon: 6 pts. Great spread-out scoring from the team. Win 54-51
Friday, Mercer Island came back from an early lead by contesting shots, and grabbing rebounds from Issaquah. We will see more outside shooting with the Eagle JV offense, but welcome the success from a fast-break that helped Rowan Dillon to score 15 points. Zach Eastern: 8 pts. Loss 42-49
Saturday the Eagles went to Mount Rainier where the teams matched up well. The true story in this tight game was the fact that the Eagles ran cold in the 4th quarter - 4 buckets from 14 attempts which gave Mount Rainier an edge to come up with the win. Mason Muir hit 3 outside three pointers for 9, Rowan Dillon: 9 pts (season average of 10 ppg), and a total of 7 three pointers, distributed among the teammates. Loss 39-47
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Varsity: Great 3 win start for our ladies in non-conference games. Tuesday beat Liberty at Home, 65-42. Friday beat Mercer Island on their home court, 69-20. Saturday beat Meadowdale at Home, 59-39. VIDEO at MI game on Facebook thanks to Stop Action Photography
