  • DATE CHANGED for SPRING SPORTS NIGHT: Due to ISD conflict, IHS Spring Sports Night has been moved from 3/4 to 2/28 at 6:30pm.

      • $4000 was approved to ASB toward the purchase of a new piano in the Choir room to benefit performing arts.

BOYS’ SWIM & DIVE (3-1)

The Eagles started 2019 with an impressive 5th place out of 40 teams in the Kentridge Invitational yesterday, Saturday, January 12. Diver Robert Gref took 2nd Place, scoring a new team record and achieving an All-American Consideration score!  Swimmers Weston Crewe (fly, back), Blake Ueda (IM) and Chris Harig (IM) qualified for the state championship meet.  All eighteen team members contributed to the fantastic finish, many turning in all season best swims. (Congrats to James Adkins, Patrick Bahk, Ryan Cho, Eric Chou, Jack Githens, Adam Hansen, Kavan Hunter, Caleb Kim, Kyle Lee, William Paxton, Joshua Sun, Jonathan Trinh, Karly Yount and Owen Zablocki on a job well done!)  

Next up: SENIOR NIGHT - Meet scheduled for this Thursday, January 17, vs Skyline.   Come cheer on the team and celebrate our Seniors!

BOYS’ WRESTLING  (4-0)    1st in Kingco!

Issaquah was prepared to wrestle in a Double Dual Meet on Jan. 10th at Eastlake High School against Redmond and Eastlake. Both Redmond and Issaquah went into this meet undefeated and Issaquah came out the victor.  Win 43-30. Issaquah also won over Eastlake with a final score of 48-6 and takes the lead in Kingco-way to go!!

ROBOTICS

The Issaquah High School’s Robotics team attended FIRST’s annual game reveal at Auburn High School on January 5th. They have six weeks to build a robot to match this year’s robotics challenge: Space Games.     Wish them the best of luck!

DECA                 Distributive Education Clubs of America

175 Issaquah High DECA Club students completed with over 1,000 student from around the area in the first round of Area 4 Competition at Meydenbauer Center on Friday.  They did awesome, receiving high honors and five 1st Place finishes – the most in Issaquah has ever had in this competition!

Highlights:  62 Issy students were recognized for their performance, with 36 qualifying for the State competition! 

      • Raghav Mandadi took 1st Placein Apparel and Accessories Marketing
      • Dawson Oen took 1st Placein Accounting Applications
      • Olivia Morgan and Ananya Sahoo took 1st Placein Entrepreneurship
      • Altai Yildirim took 1stPlacein Human Resources Management
      • Rohan Vaidya took 1st Placein Restaurant and Food Service Management
      • Xander Yanni, David Shen, Brendan Schaller, Sidney Cottrell, Lauren Spencer, Shami Kasireddy, Claire Nikong, Muskaan Agarwal, and Jasmine Nie all finished in the top 3 of their events.

 SCHOOL AWARDS  

200 Students recognized with Issaquah High School Pillar Awards ~  Nominated by teachers and staff, these are a way to recognize students based on achievements in and out of the classroom, not just for academics.  This year there are 200 students being recognized for their humility, trustworthiness, determination, and standing up for what they believe is right.  The students who receive these awards exhibit quiet kindness and generosity, and work hard to make progress.  The Pillar Awards recognize students in the following areas:  Integrity, Intellectual Curiosity, Leadership, Service, and Work Ethic. Thank you to the PTSA for providing a small breakfast reception after the ceremony last Wednesday in the Issaquah High School Doug Longman Theater.   Fall 2018 Pillar Award Recipients
