IN THE NEWS:  2018: The year in sports in Issaquah-  Issaquah athletes/teams display their talents

BOYS BASKETBALL

Varsity (Kingco 3-2 / Overall 4-7)

    • 12/18: Issaquah vs Mount Si – Mt Si set an immediate tone in the 1stQtr with a 14pt advantage – which Issaquah simply couldn’t overcome.  The remainder of the game was mostly balanced. Individual scoring was not tracked for this away game.  Loss 39-65
    • 12/20: Issaquah vs Eastlake – This win put Issaquah 2-2 in KingCo conference play. Highlighted by Bryan Yoon w/ 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.  Issaquah played cohesively and scoring was spread out among multiple players. Scoring: Asa Taylor (15), Brian Yoon (11), Charlie Dietiker (13)
    • 12/21: Issaquah vs Newport – Friday night was a great team win against Newport. Issaquah outscored Newport in each of the first three quarters, and seemingly spent the fourth quarter shooting foul shots. Newport seemed focused on stopping inside play.  Accordingly, Issy put on a 3-point clinic with 39 pts from outside the arc [Asa Taylor (3), Jonathan Lo (3) and Saxon Cullimore (4); Jameson, Danny  & Brian (1 each)]. Saxon became the fifth player to lead scoring this season with 20 points.  Saxon Cullimore (20); Jonathan Lo (18); Asa Taylor (17); Danny Howe (8); Jameson Pastor (7).
    • 12/27:  Issy lost to Arlington, 72-86  and then lost to Lakes in a close game on 12/29, 54-58

IN THE NEWS:  A powerful presence in the post

JV (Kingco 3-3 / Overall 6-6)

    • 12/18: Issaquah vs Mount Si: JV got off to a slow first quarter with an 8 point deficit.  The team fought back with some terrific outside shooting in the third quarter. But, early fouls and multiple turnovers became the story of the game.  Some key highlights included a dominant showing by Rowan Dillon. Zach Eastern plunked in 3 from behind the arc.  It just wasn’t enough for a very focused full-court press by Mount Si, which led to at least 12 points on fast break.  Scoring: Rowan Dillon (15); Zach Eastern (11); Adam Liske (6) and 4 points each for Mason Muir, Charlie Suh and Eli Connor.   Loss: 54-70
    • 12/21: Issaquah vs Newport: Issaquah JV set the tone early in the game.  Lots of good ball movement which simply dissipated Newports early attempt at full-court coverage. Fast break points were the differentiator for Issy.  Scoring was well-distributed.  And, were outscored just one quarter whenNewport launched a 3 pointer to go into halftime.  One of the team’s best defensive efforts of the year. Individual Scoring not available.  Win: 69-55

CTeam  (Kingco 2-2 / Overall 5-2)

    • 12/28: Issy beat Lakes in a close game, 47-46.
